Go for metropolitan development! Mariela Gutiérrez will promote a new law from the Senate of the Republic / @MarielaGtzEsc @AyuntaTec2025 >>>

#SenateOfTheRepublic, #Mexico.- Morena Senator Mariela Gutiérrez Escalante recognized the need to promote a regulatory framework from the legislature that grants and distributes powers of cooperation and collaboration among municipalities, resulting in certainty and well-being for the population.

«For several legislative sessions, the possibility of issuing a Metropolitan Development Law has been sought, but it has not been successful. In that sense, it is opportune to analyze and assess the relevance of having a regulatory framework,» said the president of the Senate’s Metropolitan Zones and Mobility Commission.

Participating in the First Intermunicipal Dialogue for Coordination for the Development of the Northern Zone of the Valley of Mexico, she stated that we must not lose sight of the fact that the strategic vision of the 4T governments is the development hubs, but their success is also based on efficient and effective intermunicipal governance.

During the event, which was attended by Jaime Heredia Ángeles, Director of Liaison with States and Municipalities of the National Institute for Federalism of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob), as well as the mayors of Tizayuca, Gretchen Alyne Atilano Moreno, and Tecámac, Rosi Wong Romero, among others, he advocated for holding forums in the Senate to address key municipal issues.

However, the senator for the State of Mexico said that municipalities also have tasks and must fulfill them, not just focus on cheering on the President or Morena. «They must contribute to this metropolitan development,» she noted.

At this first meeting held in Tizayuca, in which the issue of security was analyzed, Gutiérrez Escalante added that the mobility agenda is cross-cutting, considering issues of security, urban development, and the environment, as they impact the metropolitan agenda, which in turn can be translated into legal reforms.

In this regard, she added that the commission she chairs has worked constantly to approve initiatives, minutes, and exhortations to local and federal authorities with the goal of establishing a legal framework that allows for better opportunities and quality of life for all.
