IMSS Hospital leads educational care for patients with type 2 diabetes / @zoerobledo @Tu_IMSS >>>
#MexicanSocialSecurityInstitute, #Mexico.- The Mexican Social Security Institute’s (#IMSS) Psychiatric Hospital with Family Medicine No. 10 is a leader in recruiting patients with type 2 diabetes to its Diabetes Care Centers (#CADIMSS), where they are provided educational programs to improve disease control and prevent serious complications.
Patients are referred to the service by family physicians from their own department or from Family Medicine Units (UMF) No. 7, 15, and 46, to participate in a 20-day educational program.
Erika Eyamin Matua Pacheco, head of Social Work at this medical unit, part of the Decentralized Administrative Operations Body (OOAD) in Mexico City South, explained that eight groups of patients are seen daily (four in the morning and four in the afternoon), with a maximum of four members per group.
This modality allows for a personalized, patient-centered approach, addressing fundamental aspects of metabolic control, such as proper nutrition, proper glucometer use, emotional management, appropriate medication use, and safe physical activity.
“CADIMSS not only teaches patients how to live with diabetes, it accompanies them in a transformation process, helping them rediscover the desire to take care of themselves and live better. We want them to fall in love with their own well-being,” she said.
