#Naucalpan, #StateOfMexico.- The administration of Mayor Isaac Montoya Márquez, in coordination with the Mexican government, the federal and state Secretariats for Women, as well as the Naucalpan Women’s Institute and Substantive Equality, held one of the Women’s Assemblies, «Voices for Equality and Against Violence,» in San Francisco Chimalpa. He stated that his administration seeks to generate public policies that benefit this segment of the population.

He reiterated the need to create public policies so that no woman has to live in fear and uncertainty, but rather to provide them with an environment where education and culture are real rights for all and where justice is accessible.

However, he noted, no public policy is sufficient without the active participation of women and the voices of those who have transformed their homes, their communities, and their own history, as well as those who have never been heard. She added, “We are at this meeting with transformative women with the vision of the Weavers of the Homeland, voices for equality and against violence, convinced that when a woman raises her voice, it is to defend her history, to pave the way for all those who come after her.”

The main objective of this event was to listen to both women’s proposals and the realities they experience in their family, social, and work environments in order to generate strategies that contribute to improving their lives.

Montoya Márquez emphasized that in her administration, equality is not just a rhetoric, but a daily practice. “As a municipal government, we signed a letter of commitment to eradicate all forms of harassment and discrimination within the administration; we can also proudly say that we have a gender-balanced cabinet for the first time in history, in which women hold half of the management positions. Also in the case of DIF, we are talking about more than 85% of the structure being women, and that has also never been done before in history.”

«Substantive equality doesn’t end with an inauguration or remain a mere speech. It begins here, but it is strengthened by what we continue to do, moving forward with each step we take together to leave a trail of definitive transformation,» the mayor emphasized.
