The government of Cuautitlán Izcalli promotes reading and culture with the 2025 Book Fair / @daniel_ser @GobIzcalli >>>

#CuautitlánIzcalli#StateOfMexico.-  With the goal of promoting reading and bringing culture to all families, the Cuautitlán Izcalli government inaugurated the Book Fair «Reading Transforms Us, Imagining Makes Us Free.» The event takes place this Friday and Saturday, September 6, at Las Esculturas Park, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Representing Mayor Daniel Serrano, First Councilor Mary Barboza led the opening of the activities. She stated that this administration is committed to promoting reading, cultural development, and strengthening the community through education.

«With this Fair, we promote and strengthen the reading habit among people of all ages, providing access to knowledge and contributing to the construction of a more informed, more just, and more democratic society,» the municipal councilor stated during her address to the attendees.

Accompanied by the fourth council member, Ana Patricia Madrigal García, and the Director of Community Well-being, Basilia Torres Cervantes, Barboza emphasized that a society that reads is more empathetic, critical, and aware. She added that reading fosters active participation in social transformation and the country’s democratic life.

As part of the activities, a Civil Registry booth was set up offering certified birth certificates free of charge, requiring only a copy of the certificate and the CURP (National Registry of Persons with Disabilities). In addition, the public can enjoy art workshops, board games, puppet theater, and inclusive activities such as the reading bus and LGBTIQ+ awareness spaces.
