#SecretaryofWellbeing, #Mexico.– The Undersecretary of Productive Inclusion and Rural Development of the Ministry of Welfare, Columba Jazmín López Gutiérrez, noted that in the second phase of the Sembrando Vida program, agroecological restoration is one of the central substantive approaches to advance the addressing of issues such as agroforestry garden design, seed selection, and medicinal plant conservation, among others.

At the Basic Training Session for the 2026 reforestation strategy of the Sembrando Vida Program, held at the Ministry of Welfare facilities, she highlighted the importance of the forums held to systematize information and generate methodologies on forest seed management, garden design, plant diversity in production units, certified quality nurseries, and other resources, which will serve as information for future generations.

Columba López explained that the planters, along with the technical staff of the Sembrando Vida program, are working to reconsider which plants or trees are suitable for an agroforestry garden so that they serve two functions: one related to timber production and the other to forestry, so that they are associated with crops and achieve greater plant diversity.

She also noted that the selection of forest seeds is another topic of great interest, with the goal of ensuring a collection of quality seeds with genetic variability.
