#MexicanSocialSecurityInstitute#Mexico.- The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) is participating in the National Health Sector Vaccination Campaign against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), with the goal of administering 875,000 doses to fifth-grade elementary school children and children under 11 years of age who are not enrolled in school.

During the launch of the national campaign in Tlaxcala, at an event led by the Secretary of Health, David Kershenobich Stalnikowitz, and the state’s governor, Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros, the Director of Medical Services at the IMSS, Dr. Alva Alejandra Santos Carrillo, representing the Director General, Zoé Robledo, stated that cervical cancer is a vaccine-preventable disease, and this is a historic first step whose results will soon be seen.

«It is a pleasure for all of us to begin here, in Tlaxcala, the integration of this strategy from the Ministry of Health, with the vaccination card and the PRONAM, which already includes vaccinations and inclusion of children, something that has not been achieved before in the country,» he stated from the Government Palace of Tlaxcala.

He highlighted the inter-institutional collaboration for this campaign, which aims to administer 2.5 million doses and will allow children vaccinated against HPV today to be part of a generation in which cervical cancer no longer poses a threat to public health.
