#AtizapánDeZaragoza, #StateOfMexico.- The Government of Atizapán de Zaragoza, acting under the direction of Municipal President Pedro Rodríguez Villegas, has initiated a strong legal and administrative defence to safeguard the integrity of its territory in the western zone, which borders Jilotzingo. The primary objective of this firm stance is not merely to reassert Atizapán’s historical sovereignty, but crucially to guarantee the preservation of its vital natural areas, such as the environmentally significant Espíritu Santo region, which holds fundamental value for the heritage of Atizapán’s families.

President Rodríguez Villegas delivered a categorical statement regarding the administration’s position: “We will defend what rightfully belongs to Atizapán’s families,” emphasising that their goal is to provide legal certainty over the municipality’s boundaries. His government’s stance is unequivocal: they will not authorise any construction that poses a risk to the high environmental value of this particular zone. To legally ‘ring-fence’ the area, the government is currently updating the Municipal Urban Development Plan to officially designate it as a non-urbanisable reserve.

The Director of Territorial Planning and Urban Development, Ramón Jarquín, confirmed that this philosophy of conservation is underpinned by substantial documentation and irrefutable historical evidence. He affirmed that the area has been historically acknowledged in favour of Atizapán, a fact substantiated by current ecological planning programmes and precise cadastral and geographic records, effectively discrediting any construction permits that may have been issued by the neighbouring municipality.

The comprehensive legal strategy specifically targets the serious deficiencies identified in the process initiated by Jilotzingo, and relies heavily on the irrefutable historical support held by Atizapán.
