#FederalGovernment#Mexico.- President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has publicly acknowledged the crucial cooperation of citizens in the advancement of the national passenger rail project, highlighting the support from «ejidos, individuals, communities, and municipalities». During the morning press conference, the President extended her gratitude for the assistance provided in the release of the right-of-way, a fundamental process for the development of this strategic infrastructure. She emphasised the complete absence of intermediaries, assuring that all land purchases are conducted «directly» with the owners or the ejidal (communal land) assemblies.

The Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu), led by Edna Elena Vega Rangel, confirmed that 66 per cent of the construction for the new rail lines is being executed on existing rights-of-way. This strategy not only optimises resources but also reduces the requirement for acquiring new plots, although the Government is maintaining a «collaborative effort» to secure the remaining path. Several bodies, including SICT, ARTF, Sedatu, the Secretariat of Governance, and INDAABIN, have actively participated, demonstrating strong inter-institutional teamwork.

Consistent dialogue with local communities has proven key to the project’s success, achieving the release of 1,607 plots to date through on-site inspections, informative assemblies, and direct payments. President Sheinbaum Pardo stressed that the project is explained in detail prior to any acquisition, ensuring both transparency and fair compensation. This direct, non-intermediated working method confirms the administration’s commitment to respecting property rights and fostering community participation in federal infrastructure works.

Regarding the physical progress of land release, Néstor Núñez López, Head of the SICT’s Institutional Linkage and Heritage Unit, reported significant advances across several key railway sections nationwide. The projects showing the greatest momentum are the AIFA-Pachuca line at 93 per cent completion, closely followed by Querétaro-Irapuato at 85 per cent. Furthermore, the Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo route registers a 71 per cent advance, and the Mexico City-Querétaro section stands at 70 per cent, clearly demonstrating the advanced status of the required right-of-way acquisition.
