Record Employment Strengthens Mexico’s Labour Market, Says Sheinbaum Government / @Claudiashein @GobiernoMX >>>

#FederalGovernment#Mexico.- The Government of Mexico, through the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), has announced a significant milestone in job creation at the morning conference chaired by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo. By the end of October 2025, the country had registered 22,639,050 affiliated positions, marking the second-highest figure since records began in 1997. This remarkable achievement, surpassed only by the historic peak recorded in November 2024, underscores the “solidity of formal employment growth” and the resilience of the national labour market.

Zoé Robledo Aburto, the Director-General of the IMSS, detailed that 198,454 new posts were added during October, positioning it as the third-best October in the history of this measurement. The cumulative job creation for the year stands at 400,671 positions, translating into an annual growth rate of 1.8 per cent. The head of the Social Security institution highlighted that these robust figures do not yet include digital platform workers, suggesting that the final total for employment generation may prove to be even greater.

Regarding the quality of employment, the official report points to a substantial increase in the base contribution salary, which has now reached 623.5 pesos daily. This vital indicator showed a strong rise of 43 pesos over the past 12 months, equating to an annual growth rate of 7.4 per cent. Furthermore, Mr Robledo Aburto stressed the notable trend towards job permanence: of the positions created between January 2024 and October 2025, 19,777,386 are permanent roles, representing an unprecedented 87.4 per cent of the total, signifying a monthly increase of over 18,000 stable posts.

Finally, the IMSS celebrated the expanding female participation within the formal sector workforce. Out of the total affiliated positions, 9,195,810 are held by women, representing 40.6 per cent of the insured labour pool. A particularly noteworthy fact is that 100,000 of the jobs created so far in 2025 have been secured by women, decisively reinforcing progress in equality of opportunity across the Mexican employment landscape.
