#SanMiguelDeAllende#Guanajuato.- The Municipal President of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mauricio Trejo Pureco, has announced a major achievement in hydraulic infrastructure, effectively guaranteeing the potable water supply for the urban area for the foreseeable future, thus fulfilling a key administrative pledge. The Mayor confirmed the successful connection of the fifth well to the main water network, strategically situated in the San Marquitos community, an undertaking which required an investment exceeding 8 million pesos. This new source has yielded an impressive flow of 8 inches of water, ensuring that the community of San Marquitos will also be integrated into the distribution system.

Trejo Pureco highlighted the magnitude of the discovery, specifying that the well “yielded 62 litres of water per second,” a substantial volume of this vital liquid that, he estimated, “could supply potable water to half of the urban zone” of the city. With the seamless incorporation of this fifth well, the municipal government has now guaranteed the water supply for the entire urban sprawl of San Miguel de Allende for the next 50 years. The Mayor emphasised that this scheme, which began four years ago, finally permits them to “recover water for San Miguel de Allende,” offering certainty regarding this essential resource to all residents.

This milestone marks the culmination of the water recovery project, providing a durable solution to the city’s potable water needs, which serves as a fundamental pillar for sustainable development. Mauricio Trejo Pureco formally declared the hydraulic undertaking “a successful project,” transforming previous anxieties over scarcity into a reality of security and certainty for the next fifty years. This achievement clearly underlines the municipal administration’s prioritisation of its citizens’ essential needs, demonstrating commitment beyond standard political cycles.

Despite this significant victory in water management, the Mayor issued a crucial appeal to the public, stressing the imperative to protect this long-term gain through responsible and ordered urban growth. Trejo Pureco offered a strong warning: “Truly, the only thing lacking is that we don’t let the property mafia take over San Miguel again or allow uncontrolled growth of the urban area.” This message aims to raise awareness about defending the hydraulic heritage against speculative interests that could potentially jeopardise the city’s long-term prosperity.

In concluding his address, the Municipal President reaffirmed his commitment to public service and the overarching vision of leaving a better city for future generations: “Thank you very much, beloved San Miguel! And here we continue with the commitment to keep working hard and leave you a better San Miguel than the one we inherited four years ago.” The guarantee of water for the “next 50 years” is thus presented by Mauricio Trejo Pureco as a tangible legacy of his administration, rallying for citizen unity under the clear banner of “Let’s defend what is ours.”
