Government reinforces Bienestar Pension for Women, reaching nearly 3 million beneficiaries nationwide / @A_MontielR @bienestarmx
#SecretariatOfWellbeing, #Mexico.– During the tour led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo in Palizada, Campeche, the Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, declared powerfully that “it’s time for women” and that they are the true protagonists of the transformation currently under way in Mexico. Consequently, the Bienestar Pension for Women, aimed at Mexican women aged 60 to 64, is being strengthened as an act of justice that finally recognises a lifetime of essential work dedicated to caring for their families. This vital support is now reaching nearly 3 million women nationwide.
Secretary Montiel Reyes highlighted the leadership of the President, stating: “Today our President is constructing the second floor of the Transformation with a very clear message; it is time for women, and that is why, with her leadership, she established this pension.” She explained that beneficiaries receive a bimonthly deposit via their Banco del Bienestar card and are automatically transitioned to the Pension for Older Adults upon reaching the age of 65, which effectively doubles their income.
She emphasised that the creation of the pension, following the principles of Mexican Humanism, was accelerated at the instruction of the Head of the Federal Executive because “the women have waited a long time”. The Secretary stressed that this benefit is not “a favour or a handout”, but a right, made possible because public resources are managed with “responsibility and honesty”, ensuring that the money that “belongs to the people” is returned to them.
The Secretary concluded by affirming that “women are writing the history of Mexico”, and that they are participating in the country’s transformation alongside President Claudia Sheinbaum. She reiterated her commitment to working diligently towards building a more “just, free, and egalitarian country”, recognising that the tireless labour of Mexican women is what truly drives the nation forward.
