Acapulco Returns to the Top of Tourism with a Historic 69% Increase: Government of Guerrero / @EvelynSalgadoP @Gob_Guerrero
#StateOfGuerrero, #México.- The tourism strategy implemented by Governor Evelyn Salgado Pineda is delivering strong results, confirming the return of Acapulco as one of the preferred destinations for travellers during the 2025 winter season. Renewed interest has positioned the city among the national destinations with the highest growth in searches on Booking.com since September. Data show an impressive 69 per cent increase, one of the most significant rises in the country, reflecting visitors’ confidence in the destination and its rapid recovery as the Home of the Sun.
The Secretary of Tourism of Guerrero, Simón Quiñones Orozco, highlighted that these figures are the “clear confirmation” that Acapulco is stronger than ever, with growing traveller demand for renewed and safe experiences. This notable surge places the port once again at the centre of the national tourism map, driven by its iconic bay, sunsets over the Pacific, the reactivation of its infrastructure and an expanding hotel offering. The destination also benefits from the dynamism of the Mexican market, which has significantly increased searches for trips between 20 December 2025 and 11 January 2026.
The end of the year is set to be particularly vibrant, as Acapulco has prepared an extensive calendar of events expected to attract thousands of visitors and consolidate the season as one of the strongest for its economic recovery. The programme includes international sporting events such as the GNP Mexico Major Premier Padel, culinary gatherings like the Festival de Pescado a la Talla, and the spectacular Acapulco Air Show. All activities will culminate with the traditional December celebrations and the highly anticipated New Year’s Eve Fireworks Gala along the shoreline.
The destinations that make up the Home of the Sun, which include Acapulco, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo and Taxco de Alarcón, continue to stand out as top choices for the season thanks to their connectivity and diverse tourism offer. The State Government reaffirms that the strategy in place will continue to generate positive outcomes, ensuring that visitors find in Guerrero unique experiences that combine nature, history and the warm hospitality that characterises the state.
