#SocialEquity #SupportForFamilies —— #SecretariatOfWellbeing, #Mexico.– The Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, spearheaded the launch of Welfare Card distribution across the municipalities of Pátzcuaro and Morelia, signalling a profound commitment to social equity as part of the «Plan Michoacán por la Paz y la Justicia». The initiative saw the incorporation of 7,226 new beneficiaries into the Support Programme for the Welfare of Children of Working Mothers, alongside 9,117 new recipients of the Welfare Pension for Older Adults, solidifying the Government’s resolve to cater for the most vulnerable segments of society.

In Pátzcuaro, Secretary Montiel Reyes officially announced that, acting on instructions from Presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the Support Programme for Children of Working Mothers would become universal throughout all indigenous regions of Michoacán for children under four years of age. She clarified that this programme provides 1,650 pesos bimonthly, delivered directly and without intermediaries via the Welfare Card, with the explicit purpose of contributing to the care, better development, and nutrition of the children.

The focus then shifted to Morelia, where Secretary Montiel presided over the handover of Welfare Cards to new elderly recipients aged 65 and over, recognising their contributions to Mexico’s development as a constitutional right. The delivery of the pension initiates “a system of protection for older adults,” which includes the «Salud Casa por Casa» programme, where health servants provide free domiciliary consultations to monitor health and perform essential tests.

This significant deployment of resources reaffirms the National Government’s pledge to promote social justice in Michoacán, ensuring that economic support reaches those who need it most and establishing a robust protective framework for children and the elderly. The ongoing partnership between federal agencies and the people underscores a collective vision for welfare and development.
