SICT and IMSS Announce Construction of 43 Centros de Educación y Cuidado Infantil (CECI) / @SICT_mx >>>

(#EarlyChildhoodEducation – #MexicoAdvances) The Secretaría de Infraestructura, Comunicaciones y Transportes (#SICT), in coordination with the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (#IMSS), has announced the construction of 43 Centros de Educación y Cuidado Infantil (#CECI). This investment of 1,980 million pesos will create modern #ChildcareFacilities to serve 6,160 children aged 0–4. The programme is presented as a strategic advance in early‑childhood provision for working families. Construction is scheduled to commence this year on the first tranche of centres.

The scheme will extend across 40 municipalities in 17 federative entities, including Aguascalientes, Jalisco, Veracruz and the Estado de México. Each centre will be designed to meet stringent standards of safety, functionality and pedagogical suitability. Site proposals are being drawn from IMSS territorial reserves and donated land, and technical support will be provided by the SICT. Nine of the 43 centres are slated to begin construction in the initial phase.

Recent official updates indicate that the project’s architectural and technical validations are progressing through the competent authorities, and that the first nine CECI will be prioritised for immediate works. Authorities report that the initiative complements broader federal measures to expand social protection and early‑childhood services for working families. The involvement of the IMSS underscores an integrated approach to health, care and education within the national infrastructure agenda.
