In the State of Mexico, more dignified spaces for children: Tultepec renovates restrooms and plans a high school / @Edomex

(#EducationForAll – #TultepecMovesForward) *** #Tultepec, #StateOfMexico – The transformation of #SchoolFacilities became a reality in the #ElBosqueResidentialDevelopment, where Tultepec Mayor #SergioLunaCortés presided over the inauguration of the new restroom facilities at #MarianoMatamorosPreschool. Funded with the municipal government’s own resources, the project aims to provide children with more suitable facilities for their daily activities and reflects a commitment to addressing the specific needs of the educational community. The completion of this project adds to the municipality’s ongoing efforts to improve the physical conditions in which children learn and develop.

Addressing education officials, teaching staff, and the school community, Sergio Luna Cortés highlighted the progress made in public school infrastructure throughout the municipality, noting that all public schools now have arched-roof structures to provide covered spaces. The mayor also announced that the renovation of restroom facilities across educational institutions would continue, followed by visits to assess the specific conditions of each school. He explained that the objective is to identify priorities and direct future improvements toward facilities that require attention.

The announced initiatives also encompass mobility improvements and the expansion of educational opportunities. Pothole repair work is planned for El Bosque to improve road conditions, while several infrastructure projects are moving forward, including the resurfacing of the second carriageway of La Mitra Avenue, work along the stretch from Hacienda del Jardín I to the entrance of Paseos II, and improvements to the access road connecting to the Santa Elena residential development. The agenda also includes plans to build a new high school in Paseos II, a project intended to bring additional upper-secondary education opportunities closer to Tultepec’s young people.

Improving school facilities is part of a broader challenge across the State of Mexico: maintaining existing infrastructure while expanding the spaces available for learning. The Mexican State Institute for Educational Physical Infrastructure (IMIFE) reports that 1,275 schools have received attention, with cumulative investment totaling 3.046 billion pesos in educational infrastructure projects across the state. At the municipal level, the Tultepec Municipal Development Plan 2025–2027 serves as a planning instrument for establishing priorities and guiding government initiatives. From this perspective, the projects presented by Sergio Luna Cortés connect efforts to address school needs with improvements to the urban environment and the educational prospects of future generations.

The inauguration of the restroom facilities at Mariano Matamoros Preschool marks a new chapter in the use of its facilities and underscores the importance of addressing the everyday needs of school communities. Through maintenance work, mobility projects, and plans to expand upper-secondary education, Tultepec seeks to respond to community needs that extend beyond the classroom.
