#SICT.- The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jorge Nuño Lara, supervised the construction works of the Barranca Larga-Ventanilla highway, which will benefit more than 100,000 inhabitants of the region and will reduce the trip from the capital of Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido by almost 4 hours, which previously took more than 6 hours, and which is about to be inaugurated.

This is one of the highway projects that began in 2009 and was abandoned by past administrations, so the Mexican Government decided to restart it in 2018 since it is a long-awaited work by the people of Oaxaca.

In its 104 km length, the highway will have an overall investment of 10.67 billion pesos (mdp), besides contributing to improve mobility, safety and quality of life of the inhabitants of this area of Oaxaca, it will bring various services, such as education and health, closer.

The Federal Government’s action to continue this work will finally connect the Oaxaca-Puerto Angel and Pinotepa Nacional-Salina Cruz highways, through the construction of a 2-lane highway (1 in each direction), 10 bridges, 3 tunnels, 2 viaducts, 15 junctions, 2 toll plazas and 114 passages.
