#SRE.- The Fourth Inter-Ministerial Meeting of the Follow-up Commission on the Observations of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW Commission), chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) and the National Women’s Institute (Inmujeres), was held yesterday.

The meeting was headed by the Undersecretary for Human Rights, Population and Migration of the Ministry of the Interior (Segob), Arturo Medina Padilla, together with the President of the National Women’s Institute (Inmujeres), Nadine Gasman Zylbermann, and the General Director of Human Rights and Democracy of the SRE, Roberto de León Huerta.

The meeting was attended by public service personnel from more than 40 institutions of the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches, as well as local governments.

The main objective of the meeting was to present the strategy for the preparation of Mexico’s tenth report to the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women and the National Report on the Beijing Platform for Action, which will be followed up by the CEDAW Commission.

This will be done primarily through its six working groups and two subgroups: 1) access to justice; 2) gender violence against women (with two subgroups on legislative harmonization and political violence); 3) sexual and reproductive health; 4) labor equality; 5) education; and 6) attention to structural problems and economic empowerment.

The tenth report to Cedaw will be submitted as a follow-up to the Committee’s last observations in 2018 and requires information on about 24 general topics.
