#IMSS.- The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and the government of Baja California Sur handed over the first 461 bases to workers incorporated to the Decentralized Public Organization (OPD) IMSS-Bienestar in the state, in compliance with the government’s commitment to bring social and labor justice to this sector that has stood up for the health of the population, particularly during the care provided during the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the state capital’s Convention Center, the General Director of Social Security, Zoé Robledo, and Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío, led the symbolic delivery of 10 basification certificates on behalf of health personnel who worked in precarious and temporary conditions.

In his message, the head of Social Security emphasized that the dream of basifying health workers has become a reality through the OPD IMSS-Bienestar, which was possible thanks to the women and men who preceded the transformation process. «The construction of this new health system and above all of the new health care institution finds within labor justice one of its pillars,» he stressed.

Zoé Robledo explained that this process is advancing in stages, first to those who were not based in any other institution; who work in units transferred to IMSS-Bienestar and who are in direct care categories; subsequently the basification will continue, accompanied with the efforts of the Federal and State Health Secretariat for Public Health Service workers.
