Roads are safer if you drive with caution: SICT / @jorgenunol @SICTmx >>>

#SICT.- Easter vacations have begun, are you going out on the road? The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) recommends you not to use your cell phone while driving; use your seat belt and respect traffic signs.

According to the school calendar of the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), the Easter vacation period begins on Monday, March 25 and will end on Friday, April 5, 2024.

Therefore, if you are going to take a break and go to a tourist area, beach destination or visit relatives and you are going to travel by road, it is possible to prevent a road accident.

Take into account the risk factors. The SICT suggests these simple measures:

Avoid using the cell phone while driving, whether it is answering a call or sending a text message. Do not write while driving.

According to studies, about 71% of traffic accidents are attributable to the driver; of this percentage, 20% are due to recklessness or intention, 12% for speeding, 11% for invading the opposite lane and 11% because he/she did not keep distance.

According to a study by the World Health Organization (WHO), drivers who use cell phones while driving run a risk up to 4 times higher of suffering or causing a traffic accident on the road.

  • Do not speed or drive under the influence of alcohol.
  • Use seat belts, special seats for children or protective equipment such as helmets in the case of motorcyclists.
