Mexico participates in the commemoration of the founding of the city of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala / @aliciabarcena @SRE_mx >>>

#SRE.- Mexico participated in the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the founding of the City of Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, one of the first cities in Central America to be founded, which shares history, culture and ties with our country.

As part of the commemoration, on May 14 and 15, several official activities were carried out. Our country participated with the presentation of two performances by the Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández in the municipality’s central park, which were broadcast on national television; the estimated audience for each performance was 25,000 people.

The event was attended by the Mexican Ambassador to Guatemala, Romeo Ruiz Armento; the President of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Senate of the Republic, Marcela Mora Arellano; and the Mexican Consul in Quetzaltenango, Victor Manuel Jimenez Segovia, as well as municipal authorities of Tapachula, Chiapas.

The Mexican Consulate in Quetzaltenango will continue to carry out activities within the framework of this commemoration during the current year.
