Historic figure for Foreign Direct Investment in Mexico in the first quarter of 2024; more than 20.3 billion dollars / @SE_mx >>>
#Economy.- The Ministry of Economy reports that during the first quarter of 2024, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Mexico amounted to 20 thousand 313 million dollars (mdd), an amount 9 percent higher than the amount reported for the same period of 2023 (18 thousand 636 mdd), registering a new historical maximum since records have been kept.
As a result of the country’s economic stability and the good business environment, for the second consecutive year the reinvestment of profits reached a new historical maximum, which confirms the confidence of foreign investors in the country with the purpose of expanding, improving or transferring their production processes.
On the other hand, this reconfiguration of FDI flows observed in the first quarter of 2024, suggests an adequate degree of liquidity of companies to cover debts acquired abroad for obtaining loans, as well as to make loans to companies belonging to their corporate group, causing a zero effect with investment inflows to the country, which is represented in the intercompany accounts.
Preliminary figures as of the first quarter of 2024.
Billions of Mexican dollars equivalent to billions of US dollars.
