Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena begins working tour in Washington D. C. / @aliciabarcena @SRE_mx >>>
#SRE.- The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Alicia Bárcena Ibarra, began a working tour in Washington D. C. today. Her activities will take place on Tuesday, July 16 and Wednesday, July 17, and include several meetings with senior officials of that country to discuss bilateral issues such as migration, development cooperation and investment, in addition to participating in the Ministerial Plenary Meeting of the Alliance for Economic Prosperity in the Americas (APEP).
In Mexico City, the Mexican Foreign Minister will meet at the White House with Senior Presidential Advisor for Global Infrastructure and Energy Security, Amos Hochstein, with whom she will discuss investment attraction and economic diversification.
He will also meet with the Special Presidential Advisor and Coordinator of the Los Angeles Declaration on Migration and Protection at the National Security Council, Marcela Escobari, to discuss ways to ensure safe, orderly, regular and humane migration.
She will also hold a meeting with the president of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Pritam Singh, with whom she will exchange action plans for the conservation of marine ecosystems.
On Wednesday, July 17, the head of the SRE will meet with the U.S. Secretary of the Interior, Deb Haaland, to discuss strategies for the protection of the vaquita porpoise and the fight against totoaba trafficking and illegal, unreported fishing.
On the same day, Secretary Bárcena will attend the APEP Plenary Ministerial Meeting, where she will discuss the development of a lasting structure to foster competitiveness in the region, as well as strategies to increase public participation and promote equitable growth.
She will also participate in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce forum “Creating Opportunities and Competitiveness through Private Sector Alliances,” which seeks to foster binational partnerships between the public and private sectors to generate investment and improve regional competitiveness.
