#SICT.- The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) recognized the work of Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) in putting into operation the expansion, modernization and second runway of the Guadalajara Airport, which will promote sustained economic growth by facilitating regional development and global connectivity.
This was stated by the director of the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC), General Enrique Vallin Osuna, on behalf of the head of the SICT, Jorge Nuño Lara, during the inauguration event at the Guadalajara Airport facilities.
In the presence of the director of Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, Raúl Revuelta Musalem, and the governor of the state of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, the AFAC director indicated that expanding an airport, particularly by means of a second runway, represents notable benefits such as the creation of jobs and a significant increase in capacity to handle a greater volume of flights and passengers.
The objective is not only to reduce waiting times and congestion, or to improve the punctuality and efficiency of flights, but also to diversify the available routes, offering more options and schedules to travelers.
As we all know -he said- last September 2023 Mexico regained Category 1 status after the International Aviation Safety Assessment Audit (IASA) of the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in which for the first time a country evaluated responded satisfactorily to 100% of the evaluation team’s questions.
