Mexico participates in Aerospace Industry Fair in United Kingdom to attract investments / @SRE_mx >>>
#SRE.- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), through the General Directorate of Global Economic Impulse, and in coordination with the Mexican Aerospace Industry Federation (Femia), inaugurated yesterday the Mexico Pavilion at the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) 2024, held in the United Kingdom, with the aim of attracting investment in the Mexican aerospace sector.
The inauguration was presided over by the president and CEO of Femia, Carlos Robles Álvarez and Luis Lizcano, respectively; and by the president of the Mexico Aerospace Fair (Famex), Disraeli Gómez Herrera. The secretaries of Economic Development of the states of Aguascalientes, Baja California, Chihuahua, Guanajuato and Querétaro, as well as the directors of Mexican companies in the sector, clusters and universities also participated.
Representing Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena Ibarra, Rodrigo Morales Castillo, Director General of Global Economic Impulse, emphasized the SRE’s commitment to continue attracting investments that benefit Mexican society. He also stressed that Mexico has the capabilities, innovation and talent to compete and excel in the aerospace industry, a priority for the Mexican government.
Within the framework of the FIA, SRE officials held meetings with representatives of leading companies in the industry such as BAE Systems, Embraer, GKN Aerospace, Aernnova, Safran and TT Electronics, who expressed interest in continuing to expand their operations in Mexico, and announced collaboration agreements to strengthen the industrial ecosystem of the aerospace sector in our country, as well as investments for the coming years.
In 2023, Mexico registered US$156 million in foreign direct investment in aerospace manufacturing, which represents a cumulative investment of almost US$4 billion from January 1999 to September 2023. Currently, there are more than 368 plants in the sector operating in our country, generating around 50,000 direct jobs and 190,000 indirect jobs.
