Sectur and Canaco CDMX strengthen cooperation ties for the benefit of Mexican tourism / @SECTUR_mx >>>

#SECTUR.- Participating in the Board of Directors Meeting of Canaco CDMX, the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, accompanied by its President José de Jesús Rodríguez Cárdenas, highlighted the strong link with this organization that brings together 45 thousand members, who have been a key factor in the economic and tourism growth of the capital, an important driver of the country’s development.

In the framework of this event, the head of Sectur presented to more than 100 members of Canaco CDMX, the keynote speech “The Final Straight” where he highlighted the actions that have been promoted during this administration in favor of the tourism activity of our country, and thus continue to comply with the instruction of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, to make tourism a tool for social reconciliation.

Tourism is the tool and solution to fight poverty and generate development, under this premise, he pointed out that, the current administration, more than a change of government was a change of regime in which foreign exchange earnings and per capita spending were prioritized, over the arrival of international tourists, and in this way bring well-being to the marginalized areas surrounding tourist zones.

He specified that, in 2018, with a budget of 54 billion pesos, Mexico ranked 7th in domestic tourists, however, in terms of foreign exchange earnings, which is how a nation’s tourism potential is measured, we were in a distant 17th place, and ranked 40th in per capita spending.

With the purpose of reversing the loss of positioning, he highlighted that in 2019 major infrastructure works began, as well as the development of tourism products and promotional strategies with precision shots to meet the needs of an increasingly informed and demanding tourist.
