#Tlalpan, #CDMX.- It is a recognition of the public policies implemented by the current government in favor of the environment.
The mayors’ offices need to be strengthened to carry out more environmental actions and more coordination with other governments to combat crimes such as logging, said the mayoress.
For the third consecutive year, Tlalpan received the recognition of Tree City of the World, as one of the 65 cities in Latin America and 200 worldwide, outstanding for their public policies of care, maintenance and conservation of urban trees.
On behalf of Mayor Alfa González Magallanes, the General Director of Urban Services, Sergio Iván Galindo, received the Tree Cities of the World award from the Arbor Day Foundation (ADF) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), which recognize cities committed to the preservation and increase of trees in urban areas.
During the 6th National Arboriculture Forum held in Mérida, Yucatán, the environmental experts congratulated the cities that are a paradigm in the subject, since they have positioned trees as a priority issue in their government agendas.
The Mayor’s Office of Tlalpan has carried out notable actions in favor of urban trees, among them the census of trees in more than 155 public green areas, the control of mistletoe in more than 1,500 trees and the Park Wednesdays in more than 200 green spaces in more than 60 neighborhoods.
