#EstadoDeJalisco.- The Government of Jalisco, through the Secretariat of the Social Assistance System (SSAS), has undertaken transversal actions to promote a Culture of Peace and the protection of children and adolescents in the Municipality of Puerto Vallarta, in the face of problems that this priority group of the population has detected such as mistreatment and child abuse, deficiencies in sex education and addictions, an act carried out in the framework of the World Day against Human Trafficking and the closing of the activities of the campaign #JulioAzul2024 with the purpose of raising awareness and preventing this crime.
The Coordinator of Voluntariado Jalisco, Joanna Santillán Álvarez, endorsed the commitment from the representatives of the state government, the private sector, hoteliers and cab drivers, as well as in the families of Vallarta, to find solutions to this problem that hurts, and that involves everyone to do the right thing.
«Because the way in which we act in giving them safe spaces, in defending their fundamental rights, says a lot about who we are and what kind of world we want to leave. You gave your time in this great project and I thank you very much and believe me it has been an honor for us, from this space to transform the realities of people who have processes of vulnerability,» he said.
In an event held at the International Convention Center (CIC) of this tourist center, the progress of the results of this intervention were presented, which was the result of the signing of a letter of intent between the Government of Jalisco, headed by Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramirez, and Scholas Occurrentes, a secular foundation created by Pope Francis, on September 23, 2022.
«We ally ourselves with the civil society, with the private initiative to be able to fight this crime, today for today, the state government here in Puerto Vallarta, after the governor makes very clear his commitment through a signature with Scholas, through the implementation of different programs such as Poles of Development, Reconstruction of Social Fabric, the Sports Academies, in these last two years we have invested more than 15 million pesos here in Puerto Vallarta. And in the state we have around 500 million pesos in the social area with all its strategy,» said the Secretary of SSAS Fabiola Loya.
