#SICT.- The Rail Transport Regulatory Agency (ARTF) plays a crucial role in Mexico’s railway history and in the future of Mexico’s passenger rail sector, said Jorge Nuño Lara, Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT).

Heading the 8th anniversary of the ARTF, he said that the organization’s efforts have not only strengthened the provision of rail transport services, both for freight and passengers, but have also laid the foundations for sustained growth in the sector in the years to come.

With the publication of the Presidential Decree on November 20, 2023 in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), which declared the public passenger rail transport service as a priority area for national development, it will boost it towards a more efficient and safe service.

He pointed out that the President of the Republic entrusted the SICT, and consequently the ARTF, with the mission of analyzing 7 routes of strategic relevance to connect important regions of the country:

Mexico-Querétaro-León-Aguascalientes
Manzanillo-Colima-Guadalajara-Irapuato
Querétaro-Guadalajara-Tepic-Mazatlán-Nogales
Aguascalientes-Chihuahua-Ciudad Juárez
Mexico-Veracruz-Coatzacoalcos
Intercity AIFA-Pachuca
Mexico-Queretaro and Queretaro-San Luis Potosi-Monterrey-Nuevo Laredo.
During his work report, the head of the ARTF, Evaristo Iván Ángeles Zermeño, accompanied by the undersecretaries of Infrastructure, Jesús Felipe Verdugo López, and of Communications and Transportation, Rogelio Jiménez Pons, highlighted the following actions.
