Ambassador Ken Salazar’s statement on Judicial Branch reform “unfortunate and imprudent”: president / @lopezobrador_ >>>
#GobiernoDeMéxico.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador stated that the statement made by the US ambassador in Mexico, Ken Salazar, regarding the reform of the Judicial Power was unfortunate and imprudent because it disrespects national sovereignty.
“A diplomatic note has already been issued, a warning and I, of course, support what was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs because we do not accept interference, we do not accept that any representative of foreign governments intervene in matters that should only be resolved, settled, by Mexicans (…) I hope this does not happen again,” he said.
In a morning conference, the President reiterated that the Government of the Fourth Transformation conducts foreign policy based on the provisions of Article 89 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States.
“Mexico is an independent and sovereign country; we are in favor of non-intervention, self-determination of peoples, peaceful settlement of disputes and cooperation for development,” he emphasized.
At the same time, the Chief Executive read the diplomatic note sent by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Embassy of the United States, in which he expressed, on behalf of the Mexican Government, its displeasure at Ambassador Salazar’s expressions regarding “internal issues and full national sovereignty”.
