#SICT.- The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) through the Mexican Space Agency (AEM), in collaboration with the National Forestry Commission (CONAFOR), informed that Mexico and India will fight forest fires with satellite support.

The director general of the AEM, Salvador Landeros Ayala stressed that “Today’s satellite technology is a powerful tool for decision making in integrated risk management in the phases of preparedness, mitigation, response and management of forest fires.”

For this reason, he said, this last week of August, Mexico will host the exchange of knowledge on “Use of Space Systems for Forest Fire Management”, with the Indian Space Agency (ISRO, for its acronym in English), within the framework of its Memorandum of Understanding.

The Director General of CONAFOR, Luis Meneses Murillo, emphasized that the Mexican Government in this Fourth Transformation has given great relevance to environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable and sustainable development.

Hence, he stressed the importance of sharing knowledge with experts from India and working together towards building a more egalitarian and sustainable future, reiterating CONAFOR’s willingness to strengthen the joint work with AEM and ISRO towards this goal.
