Metal plates for crane identification, a “transcendental fact” in Federal Trucking: Nuño Lara / @jorgenunol @SICT_mx >>>

#SICT.- The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jorge Nuño Lara, headed the presentation of the new federal metal plates that will allow the identification of towing, haulage and salvage cranes and industrial cranes.

This is “a transcendental step” towards the modernization and professionalization of federal transportation on the country’s highways, as it allows for greater road safety, provides transparency in operations, reduces costs for users and strengthens the rule of law.

Accompanied by the Director General of Federal Transportation (DGAF), Laura Nohémi Muñoz Benítez, the head of the SICT emphasized that the new scheme specifies the type of service, reinforces safety and guarantees the operational efficiency required for traffic on our highways.

“Until today, general cargo service permits and license plates were granted to truckers, without specifying that they were towing cranes,” he emphasized.

He added that the crane service has traditionally been an area with great challenges, as it was characterized by a lack of clear regulation, as well as opacity in operations, which led to abuses and, in some cases, excessive charges for users.

In response, the SICT developed a solid and transparent regulatory framework to give way to the First Federal Regulation of Auxiliary Towing and Salvage Services and Vehicle Deposits, which regulates, among other things, the cost of these services, through the creation of a Tariff Tabulator, to avoid additional costs and excessive prices for users.
