San Miguel de Allende municipal government improves road safety on Manuel Zavala beltway / @GobMunicipalSMA >>>

#SanMiguelDeAllende, #Gto.- The vision of the municipal president, Mauricio Trejo, to improve road safety and mobility in San Miguel de Allende, is now a reality now that the Municipal Government began the placement of the road safety barrier on the Manuel Zavala bypass.

With inter-institutional coordination work, the Directorate of Urban Development and Territorial Planning with support from the Infrastructure and Public Works and Traffic and Mobility directorates, this comprehensive project focuses on the installation of a retaining wall along the entire bypass, which covers from the Nuevo Pantoja curve to the traffic lights at the intersection with Camino a Alcocer (Sapasma intersection), which will reduce the risk of vehicle accidents and speed up the safe and fluid passage of cars.

The project currently has more than 1,000 linear meters of work where there are already hundreds of hydraulic concrete blocks that make up the central wall, designed to avoid automobile risks with dangerous maneuvers such as «U-turns» and reckless side-to-side crossings, which were identified as common causes of accidents in this high-traffic area.

Since the placement of the so-called «combs», accidents on this road have been considerably reduced. From January to date, the monthly index has been decreasing, going from 6 to 4 crashes and it stands out in August, when only 1 rear-end collision has been recorded, which caused minor material damage.

The construction work on this road safety barrier is carried out at night, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., to minimize the impact on traffic congestion and thus achieve a significant improvement on the busiest road in the entire city.
