Relations with the United States and Canada continue, clarifies López Obrador / @lopezobrador_ @GobiernoMX >>>
#SRE.- Relations with the governments of the United States and Canada continue, clarified President Andrés Manuel López Obrador after announcing that the suspension of the deal is between the Government of Mexico and the embassies of those two countries due to the interventionist statements of the ambassadors in Mexico, Ken Salazar and Graeme C. Clark on the initiative of constitutional reform to the Judicial Branch.
“The relationship with the governments continues, with Canada and with the United States; it is only with the embassies and especially with the ambassador of Canada and the United States because it is not their responsibility to give opinions on matters that only concern Mexicans. It is a matter of respect for our country. Also, imagine what the ambassador of the United States says, that if judges are elected — more or less — it affects democracy. How is that, how is it affecting democracy?” he said.
“Why do they intervene so much in this matter that concerns Mexicans? I cannot find a logical explanation, although sometimes what does not sound logical sounds metallic,” he added.
At a morning press conference, she explained that the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, agrees on the need for constitutional reform of the Judiciary in order to cleanse it of corruption.
In this regard, she indicated that the process of review and discussion of the initiative in the Congress of the Union is being carried out in accordance with the stipulated times in a solid economic environment, contrary to what is proposed by the conservative bloc.
