Mexican schools reinforce environmental care values with the “ Let’s Clean Up Our EdoMéx” campaign / @SICT_mx >>>

#SICT.- More than 21,300 educational institutions at the preschool, elementary, junior high, high school, high school and higher education levels in the 125 municipalities of Mexico, were called to join the “Let’s Clean Our EdoMex” campaign, headed at the state level this Friday by Governor Delfina Gómez Álvarez.

The response of students, educational authorities and parents to this call was positive, they worked together and carried out cleaning activities in their schools and even went out to sweep and pick up garbage in the streets and parks near their schools, in line with the principles and values promoted by the New Mexican School (NEM).

This was reported by Miguel Ángel Hernández Espejel, Secretary of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, who emphasized that promoting this type of action among the student community is transcendental so that the culture of environmental care extends to their homes and communities.

The educational community worked on cleaning the classrooms, windows, toilets, desks and work tables of the students. Some students, such as those of the “María Remedios Colón” elementary school, even had the initiative to generate flyers and invite neighbors to join the day, and together, leave their environment clean.

In the case of “Lic. Adolfo López Mateos” high school, students were invited to bring PET bottles to recycle, managing to collect 25 kilograms, an activity that will be carried out permanently.

These actions strengthen and consolidate the NEM, since they promote the fight against ecological deterioration, through the care of water, waste recycling, among others.

“Now with the New Mexican School we are asked to be a trilogy, to participate for the good of a better school, with quality education. This way of working is excellent because in some way we allow parents to be closer to us, not just a school with students, but also with the participation of parents,” said Verónica Barrios Nava, Principal of ‘Lic. Adolfo López Mateos’ High School, morning shift.
