#ISSSTE.- In order to strengthen, guarantee and monitor the optimal development of pregnancy in beneficiaries, as well as to ensure maternal and fetal wellbeing, the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste) provides ongoing training to its obstetrical staff to prevent maternal deaths and provide multidisciplinary support.

On the occasion of International Obstetrics Day, which is commemorated on August 31, the institute congratulates the specialists throughout the country, who are committed to providing humane and quality care to members during the process of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium.

Eréndira Itami Sordo, specialist in gynecology and obstetrics at Issste, pointed out that this training of personnel serves to safeguard the lives of Mexican women from the first contact with the patient, thus reducing maternal deaths during obstetric emergencies.

He emphasized that the work performed by these health professionals is of utmost importance, due to the support each patient receives to avoid complications.
