#SECTUR.- Together with his entourage, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) held a meeting with the director general of the Netherlands Bureau of Tourism and Conventions (NBTC), Jos Vranken, the highest authority on tourism in this European nation, with whom he exchanged experiences in the field of international promotion.
They fully agreed on the approach of raising and prioritizing the attraction of foreign exchange from tourism and the per capita expenditure of travelers, above the massive arrival of tourists that already generates problems among the local inhabitants of important destinations in the world. He also agreed with President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s principles of making tourism a tool for social reconciliation.
During this meeting, best practices and knowledge were exchanged between the authorities of both countries, who see tourism as a great area of opportunity for the development of the population.
Accompanied by state authorities and businessmen from the tourism sector, Torruco Marqués presented the seminar “This is Mexico” to more than 100 tour operators from the Netherlands and the region, where he showed the wide range of Mexico’s tourism offerings to key players in the sector.
He highlighted the importance of the tourism industry for the national economy, and presented the latest developments in tourism products; priority projects such as the Mayan Train, the Islas Marías; as well as infrastructure works such as the AIFA and the Tulum airport, among others that facilitate the movement of tourists between Mexico’s 279 tourist destinations.
