SICT Publishes Cybersecurity Guide in Indigenous Languages / @SICT_mx >>>

#SICT.- The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) published the “Cybersecurity Guide for Children and Adolescents” in seven indigenous languages: Ralámuli, Amuzgo, Náhuatl, Tlapaneco, Tu’ Un Savi (Mixteco), Otomí and Maya, in order to promote digital inclusion as a key tool to reduce inequality and improve the quality of life of the population in Mexico.

This action seeks to strengthen the cybersecurity capabilities of users belonging to indigenous communities through useful and practical resources that allow them to make a safe, responsible and positive use of telecommunications services, Internet and digital technologies.

The Guide aims to contribute to the empowerment of children and young people living in indigenous communities, to access devices, networks, content and digital applications safely and confidently.

The document facilitates the understanding and identification of the main cybersecurity risks and threats they may face in the digital world, offering simple and practical recommendations to prevent and mitigate possible incidents.

These recommendations serve to protect against cyber threats such as malicious code or “malware”; social engineering; cyberbullying; and “grooming” or “sexting”. In addition, with this Guide, users of smartphones, laptops and tablets will be better prepared to protect their personal information.

The Ministry of Culture of the state of Chihuahua, the representations of the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples (INPI) in Guerrero, Querétaro and Quintana Roo and the SICT centers of the aforementioned entities contributed to this inclusive initiative led by the SICT.

This collaborative effort seeks to advance in closing the digital divide, create a more inclusive, safe and responsible culture, and promote confidence in the use and appropriation of new digital tools for positive and productive purposes.
