#Tecámac, #Edoméx.- The municipal government of Tecámac started up “Patolandia” and the Animal Sanctuary, where species that were donated or rescued by the Animal Control and Welfare Unit will be housed. The municipal president, Rocio Miguel Hernandez, explained that at the beginning of this year 2024, the construction of “Patolandia” began, which currently houses 82 ducks.
The mayor said that in the Sierra Hermosa Ecological and Sports Park, the necessary modifications were made to make the facilities comfortable and accessible for the birds, since the government of Tecámac is empathetic with living beings.
The Animal Sanctuary houses species whose owners could not keep them in their homes, or were rescued from markets or flea markets where they were traded.
In this place live five white-tailed deer, a sow called “Fifi”, the squirrel “Rufo”, who was rescued in the community of Los Reyes Acozac, since he was living in a bird cage; the goat “Copito”, the latter was donated when his owner died during the pandemic.
The director of Animal Welfare, Marisol Escárcega Cortés, explained that these new facilities in the most beautiful park in the State of Mexico, also have an aviary, whose birds were rescued when they tried to sell them in markets and flea markets. Likewise, the turtles have an adequate pond for their development; all the animals are supervised by veterinarians from the Animal Control and Welfare Unit of Tecámac.
