#ISSSTE.- At the Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado (Issste) we are committed to promoting a comprehensive vision that considers the emotional and physical well-being of those suffering from breast cancer during all stages -diagnosis, treatment and recovery-, which is why we prioritize actions to reduce mortality from this disease, which is the leading cause of oncological death among women, said the general director, Bertha Alcalde Luján.

During the inauguration of the 1st International Congress on Interdisciplinary and Integral Approach to Breast Cancer, held in the “Benito Coquet” auditorium of the Inter-American Conference on Social Security (CISS), the head of Issste said that the meeting seeks to highlight good practices that make a difference in the lives of patients.

One example, she said, is the campaign offered by Issste for nipple-areola micropigmentation, which has been recognized as an innovation in postoperative care and integral recovery, for which a live test will be carried out at this convention.

This procedure provides adequate psychological support, as it has proven to have a positive impact on recovery, due to the fact that it reduces disorders such as depression, which affects 88.2 percent of those who undergo mastectomy, he added.

Highlighting that one in five women over the age of 40 had a mastography in the last 12 months, Bertha Alcalde explained that, in order to advance in the prevention and early detection strategy, the institute maintains the permanent campaign “Mastography for all”, which offers this service to the population, whether or not they are beneficiaries, which is in line with the actions of the government of the Fourth Transformation to consolidate an integrated system that does not distinguish between people with or without access to social security.
