#EstadoDeMéxico.- With the objective of improving the health and wellbeing, as well as promoting responsible pet ownership, especially of canines and felines, the Government of the State of Mexico announced the upcoming construction of two Animal Welfare Centers for small species.

Their construction, informed the Government of the State of Mexico, will be in charge of the State Commission of Natural Parks and Fauna (Cepanaf) and will be located in the municipalities of Toluca, in the Sierra Morelos State Park with a construction area of 1,674 square meters; and in the “Atlacomulco” State Park, with an area of 1,365 square meters.

Both centers will be designed to care for up to 50 animals per day with a wide range of veterinary and emergency services, and will also have the capacity to shelter up to 125 canines and 75 felines per center.

The investment in these facilities is part of the state government’s integral strategy to guarantee that all companion animals have access to quality medical care, regardless of their owners’ economic situation, since these sentient beings deserve that we join efforts to give them a dignified life in every sense,” it was announced.
In addition to veterinary services, prevention, sensitization and awareness programs will be implemented on issues of animal abuse, abandonment and surgical sterilization, deworming and vaccination campaigns, which will contribute to control animal overpopulation and the prevention of diseases and zoonosis.
