CMN La Raza Specialty Hospital treats 4,000 patients per year for cardiovascular diseases / @Tu_IMSS >>>

#IMSS.- The Cardiovascular Unit of the Hospital de Especialidades del Centro Médico Nacional (CMN) “La Raza” of the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), which includes the services of Clinical Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Hemodynamics and Cardiothoracic Surgery, treats close to 4,000 adult patients a year for cardiovascular diseases, through highly trained specialists in Cardiology and the incorporation of advanced technologies.

In the framework of World Heart Day, to be celebrated every September 29, Social Security joins to commemorate this date to make the population aware that heart diseases are one of the main causes of death in Mexico and the world, for this, the main causes of cardiovascular diseases and how to help prevent them are reported.

The head of the Cardiology Service of the High Specialty Medical Unit (UMAE) Hospital de Especialidades “Dr. Antonio Fraga Mouret”, Dr. Janet Mijangos Chávez, pointed out that care for proper cardiovascular health begins at home, that is to say, prevention is basic in order to delay its appearance in adulthood.

She explained that the main risk factors for developing heart disease can be divided into non-modifiable factors such as age and gender. Meanwhile, among the modifiable components to be influenced are maintaining an adequate weight, healthy eating, regular physical activity, keeping cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose levels at normal levels, not smoking, as well as having a balanced emotional state, avoiding stress.

“All this together allows us to control these risk factors to prevent their appearance in a more significant way,” said the specialist of the Hospital de Especialidades del CMN ‘La Raza’.
