#ISSSTE.- The donor, a 17-year-old male, was treated for severe head trauma and sadly passed away. Upon notifying his family members, they generously opted to donate his organs and tissues.

The HRAE Morelos Donations Coordinator, Sergio A. Barragan Salas, said that the liver has already been transplanted at the “Dr. Jose Eleuterio Gonzalez” University Hospital in Nuevo Leon. Likewise, in Mexico City, the kidneys were delivered to the “20 de Noviembre” National Medical Center (CMN), the musculoskeletal tissue to the “Novo Injertos” Tissue Bank, and the corneas to the National Institute of Pediatrics (INP), to be used under strict biosafety protocols and for the benefit of a patient who requires them.

This is the first multi-organ procurement of 2024 in the HRAE of Morelos, so it is important to promote awareness of this noble work, especially in situations of unexpected brain death or irreversible cardiac arrest in hospitalized patients.
