#SECTUR.- While commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Escuela Superior de Turismo (EST) of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), and accompanied by the general director of this university, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, the Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, informed that the promotion of cultural tourism will be one of the relevant actions for the federal government, as well as rescuing the traditions of the peoples that give identity to Mexico, the work of artisans, from a vision of tourism sustainability, which prioritizes the environment, the generation of jobs and society as a whole.

He pointed out that on the instructions of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the benefits generated from economic growth will reach all the members of the tourism production chain, in particular, he said, the most remote communities of the country, where people feel valued and listened to, which will contribute to stability and social peace.

He stressed that Mexico is a country rich in natural, historical and cultural resources of unquestionable excellence, as well as for its geopolitical location, which will be well exploited with the determined and active participation of the agency; federal, state and municipal agencies; as well as the private, academic and social sectors, which are co-responsible for the excellent tourism performance we have worldwide.

In his speech, Arturo Reyes Sandoval, Director General of the IPN, emphasized that behind the image of Mexico as the country that enchants and invites to be discovered, is the tireless work of thousands of people, tour guides, hoteliers, restaurateurs, artisans, entrepreneurs, governments and, of course, of this school, a pillar to position our country as a world tourism reference.

He emphasized that, 50 years after its creation, with a current enrollment of more than 4,100 students, the quality of its graduates and its presence in key positions in the Ministry of Tourism, the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and in prestigious hotel chains, the EST is a continuous testimony of the high academic and professional level that characterizes the school and the IPN itself.
