#SRE.- The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Juan Ramón de la Fuente Ramírez, informed that, following the instructions of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, he has spoken with the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar, regarding the principles to systematize and facilitate the bilateral relationship, based on unrestricted respect for sovereignty and national interests.

The Chancellor highlighted the convenience, in view of the complex agenda between both countries, of having clarity on it and facilitating, in a more orderly and much clearer scheme, progress on the various issues of the bilateral agenda.

“Clear rules, long-lasting friendships, and I believe that this has fundamentally been the message. I must say that Ambassador Salazar has assumed it with enormous professionalism. This is the way in which relations are established in practice between the countries, through the ambassadors and the corresponding chancelleries of the countries,” he said.

De la Fuente indicated that in these first weeks of the administration and of a new form of communication with Ambassador Salazar, the results have been positive.

“The indication I have from President Sheinbaum is to continue moving forward in the terms that work best on the principles that are indeclinable because they are necessary in any bilateral or multilateral relationship: unrestricted respect for our sovereignty and the interests of Mexico. On that basis, I am sure that the relationship will continue to be cordial, productive and very diverse,” he said.
