CODHEM presents the State Award against Discrimination 2024 / @Edomex >>>

#SRE.- The President of the Human Rights Commission of the State of Mexico (CODHEM), Myrna Araceli García Morón, presented the State Award Against Discrimination 2024 to activists, associations, human rights defenders, who “through their actions have challenged indifference, prejudice and the invisible barriers that separate and still marginalize so many people in our society”.

The award winners are:

Alfredo Martínez Benítez, for guaranteeing equal opportunities for older adults;
Mónica Mondragón Segundo, for guaranteeing equal opportunities for the indigenous and Afro-descendant population;
Municipality of Valle de Bravo through Mayor Michelle Núñez Ponce, for promoting equality and non-discrimination in the workplace;
Verónica Gómez Cerón, for promoting equal opportunities for children and adolescents;
Dafne Denisse Durán Garduño, for guaranteeing equal opportunities for people with HIV or AIDS;
Carlos Alberto Leal Reyes, for promoting and defending the human rights of the LGBTTTI+ population.
Before members of the Consultative Council and the Citizen Council for the Prevention and Elimination of Discrimination of CODHEM, representatives of collectives and civil associations, students of COBAEM Plantel 6 of Toluca and Atenea University, García Morón stressed that the commitment to human dignity, their constant work in defense of the rights of the most vulnerable and their courage to raise their voices in the face of injustice, are powerful examples of what it means to be materially Human Rights Defenders, in the noblest sense of the word.
