The Government of the State of Mexico promotes the care of the emotional health of indigenous peoples / @Edomex >>>
#EstadoDeMéxico.- The Government of the State of Mexico, headed by Professor Delfina Gómez Álvarez, through the State Council for the Integral Development of Indigenous Peoples of the State of Mexico (CEDIPIEM), organized the multidisciplinary forum “Voices of the Soul and the Mind: Science and Ancestral Wisdom”, with the aim of making visible the importance of caring for the emotional health of indigenous peoples.
Experts on the subject and representatives of traditional medicine participated during the event, while attendees heard presentations on the importance of education to counteract misinformation, resilience to combat these conditions, the value of ancestral practices in the treatment of mental health and practical strategies for managing emotional well-being.
Manuel Quiñones Flores, head of the Executive Committee of CEDIPIEM, acknowledged the support of the Secretary of Welfare, Juan Carlos González Romero, to promote the progress of the Matlatzinca, Nahua, Otomi, Mazahua and Tlahuica communities.
In this sense, he reaffirmed the commitment to continue working for a more empathetic society, by building bridges between science and ancestral wisdom.
He highlighted the need to promote an open dialogue that combines different approaches to address mental health problems, with the purpose of eradicating stigma.
