#GobiernoDeMéxico.- The Constitutional President of the United Mexican States, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, celebrated that the Chamber of Deputies approved the reform -sent by former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador last February 5- to articles four and 27 of the Political Constitution that makes all the Welfare Programs a right.
“The Welfare Programs that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador made, that he proposed, that he generated: the universal pension for senior citizens; the scholarships for high school students -which were already there-, the Sembrando Vida program; the free fertilizer program; the support program for people with disabilities. And support for the countryside; support for fishermen and the guarantee prices will be constitutional”, he assured during the morning conference ‘Las Mañaneras del pueblo’.
He specified that, with the constitutionality of these programs, their implementation will not depend on the will of whoever is the head of the Federal Executive, since they are rights of the Mexican people that will be recognized in the Magna Carta.
“Any president or president who comes after us has to comply with them because they are in the Constitution and being in the constitutional room turns them into rights,” he added.
He recalled that there are two perspectives in the country, that of the Fourth Transformation of Mexico’s public life, which seeks the welfare of the people, and that of neoliberalism, whose vision is to make rights a privilege and a commodity. As proof of this, he highlighted that the National Action Party (PAN) voted against the reform.
“There are two visions, that of neoliberalism and that of Mexican Humanism, and the fact that the Welfare Programs, beyond education, access to health, housing, the Senior Citizen Pension is a right, the support that farmers and small producers should have is a right, the support to be able to reforest the country, through a Welfare Program, is a right established in the Constitution, This is a very significant advance that shows that Mexico has its own model for development, that the people of Mexico have decided that they agree with it and that we are going to continue advancing with it, and that there are those who do not agree, but let there be no deception that they agree with it when in fact they voted against it; then, let it be very clear that in this case Acción Nacional voted against the social programs in the Chamber of Deputies. ”
