Construction of the Cañón del Matadero tunnel is 96 percent complete: Esteva Medina / @SICT_mx >>>

#SICT.- The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, accompanied by the General Director of the SICT BC Center, Rigoberto Villegas Montoya, supervised the construction of the water tunnel being built in the Cañón del Matadero, on the Tijuana-Ensenada highway.

During a working tour, the official highlighted that the work is 96 percent complete; it is the construction of a 117-meter tunnel for water passage, in response to the emergency of the landslide of the embankment located at kilometer 10+100.

The construction of the tunnel has an investment of more than 100 million pesos and an advance in vault of 105 meters, in walls of 117 meters and in slab of 117 meters. This work will be completed in November of this year and will benefit 1.9 million inhabitants of the state of Baja California.

Before the general director of the SICT BC Center, Rigoberto Villegas Montoya, Secretary Esteva Medina affirmed that the Mexican Government is working to meet the needs of the inhabitants of every state in the country.
