Agreement Establishing the Latin American and Caribbean Space Agency enters into force / @SRE_mx >>>
#SRE.- The Official Gazette of the Federation published yesterday the promulgatory decree of the Constitutive Agreement of the Latin American and Caribbean Space Agency (ALCE).
This legal instrument was signed on September 18, 2021, within the framework of the VI Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
The ALCE will be the regional agency dedicated to coordinating cooperation in space technology research and its peaceful applications for the benefit of the people of this region.
The Agency will use the technological capabilities of the countries of the Latin American and Caribbean region to improve satellite communication systems, enhance the capacity of early warning systems, create maps of strengths, opportunities and risks due to the effects of climate change, as well as increase the capacity of observation systems for the prevention of natural disasters and improvements in agriculture.
ALCE’s main mandates include planning and executing activities related to the peaceful exploration and use of outer space.
Strengthen and support space capabilities through academic, technological and research activities; promote development, innovation, entrepreneurship and continuous training; as well as cooperation in technology transfer and encourage participation, linkage and/or coordination between the public and private space sector.
