#SECTUR.- Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise García Muñoz, presented the FIG 2024 International Balloon Festival, to be held from November 15 to 18 in León, Guanajuato.
Also accompanied by the Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato, María Guadalupe Robles León, and by the Mayor of León, Alejandra Gutiérrez Campos, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) highlighted the importance of this great event as a promoter of Mexico abroad, since it was recognized as the most important event in the world of aerospace in the year 2023.
He acknowledged the importance of boosting the arrival of tourists and increasing the entry of foreign currency through tourism by holding events of this type that allow showing the world the great cultural, gastronomic, natural and touristic richness of Mexico and, with the above, benefiting the local population as instructed by the President, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.
In this sense, she added that on this occasion more than 400 thousand people are expected to visit León that weekend, generating an economic revenue of more than 800 million pesos.
He said that the International Balloon Festival, the party that paints the sky with colors in Leon, will present 200 hot air balloons of the most varied shapes and colors, with participants from 20 countries such as Germany, Brazil, Turkey, United States, France, Spain, United Kingdom, Canada, Switzerland, Lithuania, Austria, Belgium, Netherlands, Kenya, among others.
Rodríguez Zamora pointed out that 89 percent of those attending the FIG come from other municipalities of Guanajuato, from other states of the country and even from other countries, which is expected to result in a hotel occupancy rate of 90 percent in the municipality.
